Founded in 2017, the Carolina Reaper Horticultural Society consists of a group of extreme spicy food enthusiasts and horticulture lovers. Its mission is to promote the scientific cultivation of the world’s spiciest chili peppers and facilitate cultural exchange centered around them. Through its official website, the society shares cultivation techniques, pest and disease control methods, and cutting-edge advancements in molecular breeding. With members spanning multiple countries, it includes green plant business operators, balcony gardening enthusiasts, horticultural workers, and lovers from various other industries. Every few years, the society hosts an online "Spicy Harvest Festival" to select the most ornamental fruits and bonsai of the year.
The Carolina Reaper is a hybrid of the already very spicy Havana chili and the Indian Naga Viper chili. Due to the shape of its fruit tail resembling the Reaper's sickle, it is named "Carolina Reaper".。
It is recommended to soak the seeds in warm water at 55 ℃ and store them at room temperature for 6 hours. Then, gently wash the surface of the seeds and place them on moist soil. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil at an ambient temperature of around 25-29 ℃. This way, they can germinate normally in 5 to 10 days.
There are generally two cultivation methods: original seed planting and cutting planting, both of which can cultivate excellent Carolina chili peppers; The advantage of original planting is that the root system is more developed, the disease resistance is relatively stronger, and the overall results are more; The advantage of cutting planting is to completely preserve the excellent genes of the mother plant, shorten the cultivation time, and achieve earlier results.
